PSFA Civil Core

I have been involved with many organizations on campus including SDSU Ambassadors, the SDSU Honors Program, multiple honor societies, Meetings & Events Student Association, Circle K, but there is always one organization in particular that stands out to me the most. PSFA Civil Core is an organization for the college of Professional Studies and Fine Arts at SDSU. Members enhance experiences of international students, freshmen, and transfers and encourage them to participate in activities and organizations throughout campus. The organization also promotes volunteerism, as well as the "Be Civil-Pass It On" campaign which advocates an attitude of "paying it forward." The premise of the campaign is to recognize and encourage acts of civility and create a domino effect of kindness and positive behaviors in the SDSU community.

As the Vice President of Internal Affairs I was in charge of the operations within the club. I provided icebreakers and food at each meeting, recorded minutes each session, and updated and tracked member information. I was also head of the Hospitality & Morale Committee. As the chair of this committee, I coordinated club socials to enhance member engagement.

REFLECTION
Being involved with PSFA Civil Core was the first club I actively joined on campus my freshman year. I joined alone and ended up creating a new sense of the word family. That family grew when I decided to join more clubs and organizations. Once I got over the fear of meeting new people and joining something alone, I found a connection and my place on campus at San Diego State University. Within PSFA Civil Core I got to give back to those freshman students, who many just like me, needed the push to get involved and were nervous to join something new.
